PSYC101 Journal Article Review Assignment  –  Part 2
Article Analysis, Connection, and Reflection
Due:
11:55pm ETSunday at the end ofWeek 6of the 8-week course term
You may work on this assignment ahead of its deadline but may not submit it prior to Week 6.
Points Possible:
140

OVERVIEW: For Part I of this two-part assignment you identified and summarized elements of a published scholarly article selected from the classroom Resources Folder.  For Part 2, which is due by the end of Week 6, you will analyze, connect, and reflect on aspects of your selected article.  Note that the words “succinct” and “thorough” repeat regularly in the instructions below.  They will serve as reminders that this is a formal assignment and sentence fragments, bulleted lists, conversational or other types of casual language cannot be used.

In completing Part 2 you will:

–Describe a research method alternative to the one used by your selected article’s author(s) to study the same phenomena

— Evaluate the potential impact on the “real world” of your selected article’s research;

— Apply three concepts from required textbook readings;

— Identify an aspect of the article’s topic focus about which you would like to know more

In composing your work use complete and clearly articulated sentences in one or more paragraphs, as assigned below, a minimum of 250 words each and citing sources in the body of your writing and in a References list attached to the end of it.  Proofread your work carefully as proper spelling, grammar and writing structure are required.  All answers must be your original words or paraphrases of material in your selected article or the course textbook.  No other sources may be used.  Copying from published material is a violation of the University policy on academic integrity and will void all points for this assignment with no option for revision and submission.

**You may work on this assignment ahead of its deadline but may not submit it prior to Week 6 of the 8-week course term.

Begin your Part 2 work here.

Enter your name and student ID here: ___________________

Then respond to the following succinctly and thoroughly in the spaces below

NOTE:  You must complete your work in this document, save and attach it to the assignment tab; while you may want to do so as a back-up, content pasted into the assignment page Student Comments space cannot be accepted as a substitute for an on-time attachment submission and cannot be graded.  Inserting your answers here will change the number of document pages and the location of particular items at the top, middle or bottom of pages.

While you may not remove or reorder items or change font size or other elements of this document and need to place your responses directly under each item, page number increases or an item moving from the top, middle or bottom of a page as a result of you entering your responses is to be expected and is not of concern.

ANALYSIS – 30 points possible (15 points each)

The authors of the article you have selected for this assignment used a particular research design, group of participants, and set of study methods to investigate a research question (sometimes referred to in scholarly articles as the “hypothesis tested”).  As you know from early assigned readings in the course textbook, research questions can be investigated using a variety of methods.

1. Write a succinct and thorough paragraph in the space below either justifying or challenging the use of your selected article’s research methods used to examine its research question.  NOTE:  You must base your writing on the course textbook information about which research methods are best suited for which types of studies, not on personal opinion or preference, and choose just one position here.  A paragraph that both justifies and challenges the use of an article’s research methods or that states why one position cannot be chosen cannot not be assigned points.  Include in the body of your writing appropriately placed and formatted source citations for both the article and the course textbook.

2. Write a succinct and thorough paragraph in the space below describing a research method other than the one noted in your selected article that the article author(s) could have used to conduct the same study and explain why it would be suitable as an alternative method.   NOTE: The alternative research method you select must be suited for the article’s study so you will want to review the assigned course readings on the various types of methods.  Include in the body of your writing appropriately placed and formatted source citations for both the article and the course textbook.

CONNECTION – 50 points possible (25 points each)

1. In the space below, write a succinct and thorough paragraph (250 words minimum) describing three concepts, theories or principles from the course textbook that can be related the focus of your selected article.  NOTE:  Research methods and statistical analyses have already been addressed earlier in this assignment and cannot be used as textbook concepts here.  Include in the body of your writing appropriately placed and formatted source citations for both the article and the course textbook.

2. One of the most interesting aspects of the field of psychology is the application of its concepts, theories, and principles to everyday life.   In the space below, write a succinct and thorough paragraph (250 words minimum) describing at least 3 different ways that the research conducted by your selected article’s author(s) can impact the “real world”.  Include in the body of your writing appropriately placed and formatted source citations for the article and the course textbook (if you use the latter in the construction of this paragraph).

REFLECTION – 50 points possible (25 points each)

1.  Although the author(s) of your selected article addressed many aspects of its focus of study, it is inevitable that components were not discussed that might also be interesting.  In the space below, write a succinct and thorough paragraph (250 words minimum) explaining one aspect of your selected article’s focus that the researchers did not mention that you would like to know more about.  Include in the body of your writing appropriately placed and formatted source citations for the article and the course textbook (if you use the latter in the construction of this paragraph).

2. Combined, the Week 3 and Week 6 portions of this assignment provided several opportunities, to identify the key components of a published scholarly journal article, to demonstrate knowledge of research methods use in studying psychological phenomena, (Week 3); and second, to develop and hone article summary and analysis skills (Week 6).  With the second opportunity in mind, in the space below, write a succinct and thorough paragraph (250 words minimum) describing three aspects of summarizing and reviewing a published scholarly journal article that you now understand that you didn’t know about before starting the assignment.  NOTE:  You are reflecting on your learning experience here, not summarizing or evaluating the selected article.  This is the only part of the assignment to be written personal reflection style. It is expected that you would have few or perhaps no source citations here, using them only for portions of your reflective work that are directly based on either your selected article or the course textbook.

SPELLING, GRAMMAR, AND CITATIONS – 10 points possible
(Nothing to type here.  This is an alert to go back and proofread your writing and make any needed corrections before submitting this assignment to avoid the loss of these 10 important points.  Tip:  Look for basic grammar errors [ex: using “their” when you are talking about one person), misspellings and typos, correctly spelled but incorrectly used words that SpellCheck won’t catch, sentence fragments that don’t state complete thoughts, run-on sentences that should be split into smaller ones or sentences that read awkwardly or don’t make sense when you read them aloud, etc.).

Predictive Sales Report

A retail store has recently hired you as a consultant to advise on economic conditions. One important indicator that the retail store is concerned about is the unemployment rate.  The retail store has found that an increase in the unemployment rate will cause a lack of consumer spending in their stores. Retail stores use the unemployment rate to estimate how much inventory to keep at their stores, which is important in maintaining cost effectiveness.  In this consultant role you will apply calculations and research to create a predictive sales report.

You will complete this project in two parts, but will submit your work as one Word document.  Copy and paste your calculations from your Excel workbook into the Word document.

TIP: For help copying and pasting information from Excel to Word go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/copy-excel-data-or-charts-to-word-HP010198874.aspx or watch the “Excel Tips – Tip#48: Copy from Excel to Word” found in Week One Recommended Resources.

The Final Project must be eight to ten pages in length, excluding title page and reference page(s) and must include at least three scholarly sources, in addition to the Job and Labor Statistics site.  Be sure to format your work in accordance with APA guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Part I

Reference the data in this Excel Workbook to complete the following quantitative components of the predictive sales report.  You will complete the calculations below in your own Excel workbook and then copy and paste from your Excel workbook into the Word document.

  1. Calculate the mean yearly value using the average unemployment rate by month found in the “Final Project Data Set.”
  2. Using the years as your x-axis and the annual mean as your y-axis, create a scatter plot and a linear regression line.
  3. Answer the following questions using your scatter plot and linear regression line:
  • Compute the slope of the linear regression line.
  • Identify the Y-intercept of the linear regression line.
  • Identify the equation of the linear regression line in slope-intercept form.
  • Calculate the unemployment rate in 2016, based on the linear regression line.
  • Calculate the residuals of each year.
Find the latest unemployment rate in your state. You will need to go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Website (www.bls.gov)and hover over “Subject Areas” in the top menu panel then select “State and Local Unemployment Rates” from the drop down menu under “Unemployment Rate”. Determine whether the rate in your state is within the range of the linear regression line or if it is an outlier.
  • Interpret your results of the model and explain how a company could use the results to drive decision making.

PART II

Next interpret the analysis from Part I to complete the following qualitative components of the predictive sales report:

  • Introduce the project and its significance to the retail store.
  • Reference the statistical analysis that you completed in Part I and explain where the data came from, what type of analysis was done, what the findings were, and whether or not you believe the data to be accurate.
  • Explain your data-driven conclusions regarding the effects of the changing unemployment rate on the retail store.
  • Predict what could occur in the future that would change your linear regression line and therefore your prediction of sales.

Writing the Final Paper
The Final Paper:

  • Part I must be calculated in an Excel spreadsheet and then copied and pasted into your single Word document. You must show all work and clearly label all calculations. Excel documents will not be graded.
  • Part II must be double-spaced and formatted according with APA guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.  Part II should be included in the same Word document as your calculations.
  • Your Final Project in its entirety should be eight to ten pages in length excluding title page and reference page(s) and including all calculations.
  • Must include a cover page that includes:
    – Title of paper
    – Student’s name
    – Course name and number
    – Instructor’s name
    – Date submitted
  • Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
  • Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
  • Must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.
  • Must use at least three scholarly resources, in addition to the Job and Labor Statistics site, from the Ashford Library or other scholarly sources.  Resources must be properly cited in APA guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must use APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide to document all sources.
  • Must include, on the final page, a Reference Page that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
  • You must submit your work in one Word document that includes Part I and Part II.

mgmt623 legal ethical issues management essay 600 700 words assignment 7

– I just wanted to add to this that I will have to submit this to turnitin.com.

Freedom of speech and expression are fundamental human rights that are protected under the U.S. constitution. Commonly, defenses of these rights are grounded in appeals to autonomy (in order to act autonomously we must have the freedom to express ourselves). Thus, restrictions on our freedom of expression correlate to restrictions on our autonomy. However, several authors in this chapter recognize that sexual harassment can have a detrimental effect on autonomy. On the surface there seems to be a tension between appeals to autonomy in defense of freedom of speech and expression and appeals to autonomy in order to justify restrictions on freedom of speech and expression which may result in sexual harassment. Do you believe that there is a conflict between these two positions? How may such a conflict be balanced?

Prepare a 600-700 word response in APA 6th ed. format. Your paper must include required readings and at least two external references.

Dropbox Assignment

Assignment 1: LASA 2 – Ethical Systems and Me

What a busy five weeks we have had! We have learned to use moral reasoning and examined many ethical theories in this course. These include virtue ethics, utilitarianism, social contract, deontology with goals (Hinduism and Buddhism), deontology with divine authority (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), relativism (individual and cultural), and deontology with a categorical imperative (Kant).

Think back about your impressions of each of these ethical systems and write a 1,000 to 1,250-word essay that addresses the following questions below. Be sure to write good introductory and concluding paragraphs in your essay.

  1. Summarize the principle components of each of the seven ethical systems studied in this course (listed above), including the principle ethicist involved in developing the system. Use two or three sentences for each ethical system.
  2. Which ethical system is most prevalent in the United States today? In the World?  Explain your answer and support your response.
  3.  Which ethical system most closely matches your personal ethical system? Why do you think so?  Explain your position.
  4. Please give a short, personal example that supports your decision to identify your ethical system (3 or 4 sentences) and explain why it does so.
  5. Examine your response to previous assignments in Modules 1 thru 4 in this course.  Are there any inconsistencies or conflict between positions you took in earlier assignments and the ethical system identified in this paper? For example, monotheists (Christians, Muslims, and Jews) believe in universal maxims. Relativists do not think universal maxims are possible.  One cannot, for example be a Christian and believe no universal maxims exist, which is a relativist position. Monotheism (Christianity) and relativism are polar opposites. If inconsistencies exist between your earlier answers and this paper, how do you resolve them in your ethical decision-making process in the real world?
  6. Add at least three references to support your analysis in this paper.

Post a 4-5-page (1000-1250 -word) paper to the M5: Assignment 1 Dropbox bySaturday, July 12, 2014. Include a title and reference page (not included in the 4-5 page count). All written assignments and responses should follow citation rules for attributing sources using APA format. Please use Microsoft Word spelling/grammar checker before submitting your essay.

product development and marketing health care

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Read and Follow the Guidelines Below, Very Important!!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Assignment 1: Product Development

Health services continue to affect the gross domestic product, and this dramatic transformation has great demands on each dollar spent to deliver patient-centered products. Health care marketing must be repeatedly applied and practiced strategically to include environmental dimensions, such as technology, socioeconomics, competition, and regulatory.

That being said, in today’s global economy, investors and potential entrepreneurs must tap into the so-called “unexplored” market. In this aspect, health care establishments must utilize marketing, advertising, as well as sales strategies when pursuing new customers (e.g., suppose a health care investor wanted to build a small hospital in a rural community); this would entail exploration and logistical experimentation to determine who will patronize the facility. In an impoverished neighborhood, the feasibility of having lucrative profits may see diminishing returns, and so the venture may be not worth the effort. Also, suppose that the potential investor wants to sell mosquito deterrents (e.g., bedside netting in malaria-infested regions of Asia or Africa); then it would be wise to investigate the number of beds that are actually in the village, and who would be willing to purchase them. These activities take into account the investor portfolio, as well as the feasibility of marketing and selling the product. Such exploration also examines competitors, cultural differences, and—most important—identification of the customer.

Identify a local health care establishment (e.g., hospital, rehabilitation center, emergency medical center) and determine its product development practices. Utilize concepts from previous weeks to substantiate information, as needed. You may develop the discussion based on the ideas presented here, but feel free to inject any salient marketing strategy that you believe might support your presentation.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Justify the purpose of the selected health care establishments’ product(s) / service (s) and their associated life cycle(s).
  2. Suggest one (1) strategy to improve the marketing mix of the selected health care establishment. Support your strategy by highlighting one (1) benefit of (1) portfolio analysis and providing two (2) examples that display differential advantages.
  3. Assess the importance of technology in providing patients with clear and accessible information about health care organizations and the product(s) / service(s) that they provide.
  4. Outline a survey to capture patients’ expectations regarding the delivery and / or accessibility of product(s) / service(s) identified.
  5. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Analyze how products evolve through the four stages of the product life cycle.
  • Determine the appropriate product succession planning efforts of health care services.
  • Examine the marketing research process and market segmentation strategies in the health care industry.
  • Evaluate marketing research tools involved in the marketing process.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in health services strategic marketing.
  • Write clearly and concisely about health services strategic marketing using proper writing mechanics.

Grading for this assignment will be based on answer quality, logic / organization of the paper, and language and writing skills
